McKenzie Fishing Opportunities

Fishing From A Koffler Drift Boat

Drift Boats are the Fishing Machines of Oregon Rivers.  They are safe, comfortable and can slip into areas where traditional boats would high center.   We fish from a Koffler Draft Boat that is considered the Premier manufacture of Drift Boats in the Northwest.   Every detail has been designed with catching fish in mind.

Oregon Stealhead

Pound for pound, Steelhead are the hardest fighting fish you will find in Oregon Rivers.   These fish range from 6 – 20 pounds and have a tendency to strip line and make your reel sing.   Steelhead can be found throughout Oregon year round but the most popular seasons are Winter and Summer.

Oregon Salmon Fishing

Salmon are in NW rivers in both the Spring and Fall of each year.   These fish are big and we regularly catch fish in the 20 pound range.   Salmon is also one of the most delicious fish you could ever put on your table.  In Oregon we catch both Chinook and Coho salmon in our rivers.

About Jim

We have fished with many guides in Oregon and Washington and the two of us have had some spectacular fishing experiences. However, our multiple trips with Jim Martin are among our most memorable. Why? The answer is simple. Jim Martin puts his all into every trip. His knowledge of the streams, where the fish are to be found, his ability to put you on the fish and his expert knowledge of equipment and methods for every occasion and type of weather is unparalleled. He is one of the best, if not the best fishing guide in the area. We have fished with Jim three times and each has been a truly memorable experience. He is our guide of choice when it comes to fishing the Willamette Valley and we look forward to booking with him again soon.

Testimonials

Thanks, Jim….appreciate the compliments about the boys:-). Always nice to hear that all the years of parenting/teaching had a good end result! They enjoyed you as well and went on & on about how knowledgeable and professional you were on the outing. Glad you were able to introduce them to Oregon fishing. Carolyn

It was great fishing with you too. I hope we get a chance to do it again sometime. Always great to know a guide worth referring and hanging out with. Hoping that tight line prevail!

Hi Jim, Brandon and I had a great time, this was Brandon’s first guided trip ever and he had a great time, even though he’s only my stepson he’s a lot like me. It’s no how big or how many fish you caught. But how much fun with good people on the trip. I hope I inspire that in him. After all isn’t that is what fishing is supposed be? We couldn’t have picked a better guide and we will fish with you again. I guess that’s the best compliment I can give you. Thanks Bob and Brandon P.S. My fish is in the brine ready to smoke tomorrow Brandon is cooking his up for himself and his Dad.

We had a wonderful day of fishing with Jim. In the brief periods between beautiful fish, Jim shared his vast knowledge of the fish and the river. Great conversation, great fishing, great weather… What else could you ask for? We will definitely do it again as soon as we can! I have been fishing for twenty years on the Umpqua, where Jim took us, and learned more eight hours with Jim than two decades on my own. I can’t thank him enough for sharing his knowledge and expertise. I can’t wait to do it again! Andrew J.

I was referred to Jim by an other guide (imagine that) nine years ago and then never had or wanted to go fishing with anyone else in your neck of the woods. I’m an East Coster who visits Oregon once or twice a year. When I do, I call Jim every time I come out there. Jim has always put us on some fish and I have yet come home empty handed. His ability, knowledge and personality make for wonderful memories and fishing every time out. The tools of the trade: the freshest bait and tackle are always the best available. A clean state of the art drift boat with a heater (for those chilly days) and a professional atmosphere makes the time spent on the water even that much more enjoyable each and every time. I would highly recommend Jim to even the most seasoned angler. Jim McKay
